Make-Up Testing
The Assessment and Testing Center at Seminole State College provides students, faculty and the community with professional, secure and quality testing services to ensure that all individuals have the opportunity to meet their quest for academic and professional fulfillment. We adhere to the National College Testing Association (NCTA) Professional Standards and Guidelines.
The Assessment and Testing Center administers academic testing for Seminole State students who are unable to take a scheduled classroom test for one of the following reasons:
- Academic Testing with documented disability identified by Disability Support Services (DSS)
- Limited academic testing
Exam Schedule
Some Colleges host a week for final exams at the end of each term. Seminole State does not. Therefore, instructors will schedule their final exams at their discretion during one of their regularly scheduled class periods.
Grading Basis
Letters are used to indicate the final grade reflecting the quality of work achieved by college credit students at Seminole State. No credit is given for courses in which a grade of "F" is earned.
Grading Scale
Verify the grading scale with your department.
Example:
- A = 90-100%
- B = 80-89%
- C = 70-79%
- D = 60-69%
Incomplete (I) Letter Grades
An incomplete (I) may be given in courses where the student has not completed the required course work by the end of the term. To award this grade, the student must present to the instructor valid reasons for not having completed the course requirements. Course work must be completed thirty (30) days after the first day of the next semester, otherwise, the "I" grade will be changed to an "F". The student is not eligible for graduation or honors list until all "I" grades have been removed from the academic record. The "I" grade may also impact eligibility for financial aid.

| A | Excellent | Awards 4 grade points |
| B | Good | Awards 3 grade points |
| C | Average | Awards 2 grade points |

Grade Reporting and Compliance (Procedure 4.0304)
Our aim is to ensure grade system integrity, provide timely transcripts for students, and supply accurate reports to authorized agencies.
Submitting Grades
Visit the “eLearning Resources for Faculty” Canvas shell for a walkthrough of best practices in setting up your Canvas gradebook to accurately calculate student grades in line with your instructional vision! You can use strategies such as total points, weighted assignment groups, grading schemes, dropped scores, and extra credit to make grade calculation easy for instructors and accurate for students. Using “Grade Passback”, your students’ final scores will automatically migrate from Canvas to our official grade posting site in Peoplesoft.
Submitting Grades Early
If faculty members want to submit their final course grades early, they can be submitted online via My.SeminoleState.edu before the college deadline. Directions for how to submit grades are located in the Faculty Toolkit. Once grades are submitted, the faculty member should provide the coordinator with a photocopy of the grades for the department files.
Changing a Grade (Procedure 4.0301)
Faculty should make a concentrated effort to submit grades by the designated deadline. All faculty members are responsible for submitting grades on time. If the deadline is not met, the student's grade is recorded as NR (not reported). If a faculty member misses the deadline to post grades, they must perform a "Grade Change" in MySeminoleState.edu to change NG to a letter grade.
Submitting an Incomplete Grade (Procedure 4.0307)
A grade of Incomplete (“I”) may be given at the faculty member’s discretion when the student is progressing satisfactorily but, for valid reasons, cannot complete the final requirements of a course within the specified term.
Valid reasons may include serious, unforeseen situations such as the student’s illness, the death of a student’s family member, and situations covered by statute such as manifestation of a disability or complications of pregnancy.
Faculty needs to keep written record of expectations for students. If student needs extended access to Canvas, faculty must file ticket with eLearning for it.
