Chapter Seven - Important Policies & Procedures: Textbooks
Textbook Affordability and Adoption (Procedure 5.2100)
The College establishes this procedure for adoption of instructional materials and other course materials with the goal of minimizing the cost to students, while achieving desired course learning outcomes, and maintaining quality education and maintaining academic freedom.
Textbook validation requirement states that faculty must use required textbooks and all ancillary materials. You can find more details in the Textbook Adoption tab at the Course and Curriculum Development webpage. The College shall provide each Adjunct faculty member a complimentary hard and/or digital copy of the textbook(s) and any other educational resource(s) adopted for each unique course that they teach. Textbooks are the property of the College and should be treated as such. For academic advising, testing services, and counseling as provided by the College the Adjunct faculty member shall refer the student to the Office of Student Services at the appropriate campus.
Intellectual Property (Procedure 7.1000)
It is the Policy of the College to create and support an intellectual environment in which College employees are free to create and collaborate in the development of scholarly and creative works, educational materials, and other intellectual property. Such development activities increase professional knowledge, provide creative models for students, and bring recognition to the individuals and the College. These developments may involve the use of College time and resources. Ownership rights shall be determined by the type and amount of College time, resources, and equipment used in the development of such materials. Please follow the link above for more information regarding this policy.
