RED2010 Foundations of Reading

This beginning reading methods course introduces students to the principles, procedures and current research-based practices for teaching and assessing reading. This course is designed to equip preservice teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively teach reading to a all students. Through a combination of theoretical understanding and practical application, students will explore evidence-based approaches and strategies to support all learners. The course is grounded in the science of reading and emphasizes multisensory interventions, strategies for differentiating instruction, progress monitoring, and addressing various reading difficulties.
